Something wonderful happened today...

Since the English countryside is incredibly beautiful, especially in compare to the old uniformity of American suburbia, me and my family usually go for nice little drives together. Family bonding is always important. Today we stumbled upon one of those "car boot sales" or "flea markets", whichever name suits you best, and I couldn't have been more excited. I love these things. I love the people. The things they sell. The prices of the things they sell. Everything about them is just absolutely wonderful. As this car boot sale was nestled beneath a tree covered hill and next to an old train track I thought it was going to be the perfect picture taking opportunity. Good thing I brought ol' louie along! (my Pentax, I'll post a little picture later)
I continued to wander and take photographs and get my mother to buy me little things when suddenly a man approached me, as I was taking a picture of spoons with little ducks on them, and said, "Would you like to take a picture of me?" Of course my response was enthusiastic. This old english man, with a red shirt and a half-eaten mr. whippy ice cream was offering to be my model. As I turned the lens to focus on him he help up his cone and made sweet little kissing faces at the camera. How many people get to take photographs of strange, old, english, ice-cream-eating, kissy-faced, men? Not many! I hope he's having a good day; he certainly made mine.

...Been rocking out to some Hedwig and The Angry Inch tonight. If you haven't seen this film you should really consider doing so. The riveting tale of a transgendered musician from ex-communist East Berlin in her search for love, acceptance, and fame. It doesn't get much better than that. Not to mention that the soundtrack is incredible.
